About The Wine Lab
The Wine Lab is a venture builder that creates, develops and operates brands and businesses in wine, sparkling wine and other grape-based alcoholic beverages.
Who we are
The Wine Lab creates and runs its own brands and supports those who want to build a business in this market, through consulting, mentoring and investment.
Our way of working brings together two skill sets that rarely go hand in hand: the technical knowledge of someone who studies and researches viticulture and enology, and the experience of someone who spent more than three decades building, running and turning around companies. We look at every business from both ends: what is in the bottle and what makes the company work.
The founder
The Wine Lab was founded by Alexandre Estolano, its sole partner. He has more than 35 years of experience as an executive, university president, CEO and business strategy consultant, specializing in business model design and corporate turnarounds.
Alexandre holds a PhD in Business Administration from COPPEAD/UFRJ and an MBA in Technology for Business: AI, Data Science and Big Data from PUC-RS. He is a technologist in Viticulture and Enology from IFRS, where he is now pursuing a master’s degree in the same field, and holds the WSET Level 3 certification. He is also an angel investor, a member of Poli Angels, and a startup mentor.
